(Central News Agency reporter Hsieh Chun-Lin, Taipei, 5th) The Taipei District Prosecutors Office held a "Press Conference for Anti-Fraud Video Release" today. The series of videos were produced by an advertising company that received a deferred prosecution. During the prosecutor's investigation into a tax evasion case, considering the good confession attitude of the company's responsible person, and believing that this judicial investigation process served as a warning, a deferred prosecution was granted. One of the conditions was to produce 7 short videos for crime prevention and public awareness, including anti-fraud, anti-drug, and anti-vote buying messages.
According to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office press release, three of the anti-fraud videos, the "Astrology Series – True Love, Family Fortune, and Wealth Seeking Episodes," officially debuted at today's press conference. Combining popular astrology topics with an advertising-style narrative rhythm, these 15-second short videos focus on "AI deepfake fraud," "romance scams," and "investment scams," respectively, conveying key concepts for identifying fraud.
The press release stated that the core concept of this series of videos is "It's not that I'm accurate; it's that fraud routines are too consistent." By having an astrologer analyze horoscope trends, the videos cleverly reveal common tactics and methods used by fraud groups, thereby increasing public awareness and effectively reaching young people and internet users.
The Taipei District Prosecutors Office stated that as fraud techniques constantly evolve, especially with the rapid development of AI deepfake technology, it has become harder for the public to distinguish truth from falsehood. Simultaneously, romance scams and investment scams continue to cause significant financial losses. The creative packaging using astrology is not meant to emphasize the accuracy of fortune-telling but to use the contrasting effect of "seemingly predicting, but actually revealing" to help the public understand that fraud techniques are highly repetitive and identifiable.
The press release also mentioned that in addition to being played at the press conference, the three videos will be broadcast in crowded areas such as the Taipei Cultural and Sports Dome, Guanghua Digital Plaza's light wall, Banqiao Bus Station's Xinban Light Wall, New Taipei Transfer Station TV, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taipei Xinyi A8, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taipei Nanxi, Taipei Xinyi Vieshow Cinemas, and the baggage claim areas of Taoyuan Airport Terminals 1 and 2.
The Taipei District Prosecutors Office also appealed to the public to maintain rational judgment when facing various information, not to blindly trust unknown investment opportunities or romantic relationships, and to verify through the 165 anti-fraud hotline, working together to create a safe and fraud-free living environment.
