(Central News Agency reporter Pan Chih-yu, Taipei 5th) Market research firm TrendForce today announced its panel price forecast for early May, predicting that the momentum of TV panel price increases will slow down in May, and prices for all sizes from 32 inches to 75 inches will turn flat.

TrendForce Research Vice President Fan Po-yu stated that some TV brands have begun to revise orders in May, and although demand for large-sized panels is better than for smaller sizes, overall demand shows signs of weakening. Panel manufacturers also conducted production adjustments for 3 to 5 days during the Labor Day holiday in an attempt to maintain stable panel prices.

However, Fan Po-yu pointed out that under high cost pressure, TV brands are also actively approaching panel manufacturers to negotiate the possibility of price reductions in exchange for larger orders. Therefore, it is expected that the momentum of TV panel price increases will slow down in May.

TrendForce's survey indicates that demand for liquid crystal display (monitor) panels remains stable in May. Although panel manufacturers want to expand price increases under cost pressure, with TV panel prices starting to flatten, brand customers are currently accepting price adjustments but are cautious about further expanding price increases for LCD monitor panels.

Currently, the forecast for LCD monitor panel prices in May is an increase of about 0.2 to 0.3 US dollars for Open Cell panels. For mainstream module sizes, 23.8-inch FHD and 27-inch FHD are expected to increase by 0.2 US dollars, and 27-inch QHD is expected to increase by 0.1 US dollars.

TrendForce estimates that demand for laptop panels remains relatively stable in May, with only a slight decline. Some brands are actively stocking up on panels in advance to cope with the successive arrival of other components such as CPUs. However, panel manufacturers are still finding it difficult to implement more aggressive price increases for panels. On one hand, brand customers are resisting panel price increases due to high costs, and on the other hand, panel manufacturers have difficulty forming a more consistent pricing strategy for laptop panels compared to TV or LCD monitor panels. Therefore, it is predicted that laptop panel prices will remain flat across the board in May. (Editor: Lin Chia-hsin) 1150505
