(Taipei, May 5, CNA Reporter Hsieh Chun-Lin) The Legislative Yuan today conducted a recorded roll-call vote on the personnel approval case for the nominated Prosecutor General, Hsu Hsi-Hsiang. With lawmakers from the Kuomintang (KMT) and Taiwan People's Party (TPP) casting dissenting votes, Hsu Hsi-Hsiang failed to reach the approval threshold. In response, Hsu Hsi-Hsiang stated that it was due to his own insufficient effort.

On March 13, the Presidential Office issued a press release stating that the incumbent Prosecutor General of the Supreme Prosecutors Office, Hsing Tai-Chao, would complete his term on May 7. President Lai Ching-Te, in accordance with the Organic Law of the Courts, nominated Hsu Hsi-Hsiang, Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme Prosecutors Office, as the Prosecutor General of the Supreme Prosecutors Office, and referred the nomination to the Legislative Yuan for its consent.

This morning, the Legislative Yuan held a recorded roll-call vote on the Prosecutor General's personnel approval case. With legislators from the Chinese Kuomintang and Taiwan People's Party casting dissenting votes, Hsu Hsi-Hsiang ultimately received 50 votes in favor and 61 votes against, failing to meet the approval threshold and thus not passing.

In response, Hsu Hsi-Hsiang told CNA reporter that it was his own insufficient effort and that he respected the decision of the Legislative Yuan. (Editor: Hsiao Po-Wen) 1150505
