(Central News Agency reporters Tsao Ya-yen, Wang Hung-kuo, New Taipei 5th) A pinhole camera was recently discovered hidden inside a smoke detector at Airlee Clinic's Banqiao branch in New Taipei. Prosecutors and police have since expanded their search to several other Airlee branches, reviewing surveillance footage to check for other victims. The case is being investigated for offenses such as sexual privacy infringement.
According to reports, a netizen recently pointed out that while undergoing body sculpting at Airlee Aesthetic Clinic's Banqiao branch, she found an unknown device in the corner of the ceiling that appeared to be a hidden camera while changing clothes in the treatment room. Clinic staff insisted it was a smoke detector. After the woman reported it to the police, officers arrived and confirmed that the device contained a camera, but could not confirm if it was operational. The investigation then proceeded under the charge of privacy infringement.
It is understood that the New Taipei District Prosecutors Office has initiated an investigation (he-tzu case) and recently directed the New Taipei City Police Department's Women and Children Protection Team and other units to expand searches to several branches. The Department of Health also sent personnel to conduct inspections. Currently, prosecutors and police are reviewing surveillance footage to check for other victims and will subsequently notify individuals to appear for questioning. The case is being investigated under charges such as sexual privacy infringement and privacy infringement under the Criminal Code.
Furthermore, after the suspected voyeurism incident broke, all branch information on Airlee's official website was found to have been cleared. The New Taipei City Department of Health stated that the case has entered judicial proceedings, and the Department of Health will cooperate with prosecutors and police in the investigation. If the institution is found to have violated relevant provisions of the Medical Care Act, it will be dealt with according to law. (Editor: Lin Shu-hui) 1150505
