(Central News Agency reporter Hsieh Chun-lin, Taipei, May 5) The Taipei District Prosecutors Office received reports that four police officers from the Neihu Precinct of the Taipei City Police Department are suspected of involvement in cases such as leaking secrets and destroying public documents. Today, it directed police and investigators to search eight locations, including the residences of the four defendants surnamed Liu, Kong, Tseng, and Hsieh, and notified the four to appear for questioning.
Investigators found that a former Neihu Precinct police officer surnamed Liu was accused of allegedly leaking information on an ongoing investigation to a female friend. Additionally, police officer Tseng from Donghu Station, police officer Hsieh from Neihu Station, and internal affairs officer Kong from the precinct are suspected of "voiding tickets" for friends, removing traffic violation tickets directly issued by police officers to help them evade administrative fines. The exact timing of these two incidents is still under further investigation by prosecutors and investigators.
Today, the Taipei District Prosecutors Office directed the Mobile Squad of the Taipei City Investigation Department of the Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau, the Inspectorate of the National Police Agency of the Ministry of the Interior, the Inspectorate of the Taipei City Police Department, and the Neihu Precinct to execute search warrants issued by the court at eight locations, including the residences and offices of the four defendants surnamed Liu, Kong, Tseng, and Hsieh. The four were notified to appear for questioning and are expected to be transferred to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for further questioning sequentially this evening. The case is being handled as leaking secrets and destroying public documents.
It is understood that this case was initiated by the National Police Agency of the Ministry of the Interior, the Taipei City Police Department, and the Neihu Precinct's internal self-inspection and self-purification, which then reported it to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for command and investigation. Prosecutors, police, and investigators are currently continuing their investigation to clarify the facts. (Edited by Chang Ming-kun) 1150505
