(Central News Agency, Reporter Chao Li-yen, Taichung, May 5) The National Museum of Natural Science, celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, launched the "ㄎㄅ hat". The term "ㄎㄅ" sparked online discussions, with people starting to coin new words such as "課本" (textbook), "口白" (narration), and "恐怖" (terror). The hat unexpectedly became a sensation, leading the museum to produce additional batches and plan for other "ㄎㄅ" merchandise.

Recently, the "ㄎㄅ hat" has generated online discussions, with many people coining words starting with "ㄎㄅ", such as "酷斃" (super cool), "恐怖" (terrible), and "看吧" (see?). The "ㄎㄅ hat" was conceived and produced by museum staff for the museum's 40th anniversary, but some people have commented that they simply couldn't guess that "ㄎㄅ" stood for "科博" (National Museum of Natural Science).

Museum staff told a Central News Agency reporter that the "ㄎㄅ hat" is a water-repellent, three-fold hat, available in two earth tones. Its three-fold design allows it to be easily stowed in a backpack or pocket. Launched in January this year as a 40th-anniversary commemorative product, the hat also features the museum's opening year on its back.

Museum staff said that peripheral products should be practical and embody the museum's characteristics, leading to the idea of the "ㄎㄅ hat". Designed with Bopomofo characters, it not only highlights Bopomofo as a unique feature of Taiwan but also aims to create a playful homophonic interest and enhance memorability, while encouraging public creativity. Director Huang Wen-shan stated his hope to present "ㄎㄅ" in a humorous way.

Museum staff mentioned that the museum's cultural and creative products have a supportive audience, and the overwhelming success of this hat was unexpected. The first batch of 300 hats has sold out, and the second batch of 800 hats was restocked in early April, with only a small quantity remaining. Additional production is underway, and the new batch is expected to arrive around the Dragon Boat Festival. "ㄎㄅ mineral stickers" will also be launched soon, with new peripheral products continuously introduced in the future. (Edited by Li Heng-shan) 1150505
