Ministry of Environment Advises Taipei to Adopt Dengue Prevention Model for Rat Control

To assist Taipei City in addressing its rat infestation, the Ministry of Environment proposed four key recommendations today. These include adopting a coordination model similar to ''Dengue Fever'' prevention, proactively announcing control measures to the public, implementing clear divisions of responsibility in public areas, and consulting experts for scientific strategies. Hsu Shih-hsun, head of Taipei''s Environmental Protection Bureau, led a delegation to meet with Ministry officials this afternoon. The Ministry emphasized that rat control is a city-wide systemic responsibility rather than the sole task of the Environmental Protection Bureau. Both parties reached a consensus that control efforts must be long-term, focusing on the core principles of ''cutting food sources, blocking entry points, and elimination.'' The central government will continue to provide technical support to assist local governments in creating a safer and cleaner urban environment for citizens.
