(Central News Agency reporter Kuan Jui-ping Miaoli County 5th exclusive report) Miaoli County currently has 211 public bicycle (YouBike) rental stations, with accumulated rides exceeding 10 million. County Mayor Chung Tung-chin said today that the county will continue to set up stations in townships that do not yet have them, aiming for all 18 townships and cities in the county to have YouBike access.

Miaoli County's public bicycle system was launched in June 2018, and on March 9 this year, it reached the milestone of over 10 million cumulative YouBike rides. County Mayor Chung Tung-chin today recognized the lucky 10 millionth rider and thanked YouBike Company for providing NT$8,000 in Pxmart gift vouchers as a reward. He emphasized that the record of exceeding 10 million rides is not just a number, but also symbolizes that the vision of "Low-Carbon Miaoli" has gained public support.

Chung Tung-chin pointed out that YouBike has integrated into residents' daily commutes, school trips, and recreational activities. The county government team will continue to review operational efficiency, evaluate demand in various areas, optimize station layouts, and strengthen vehicle maintenance quality. The goal is to have "stations in all 18 townships and cities in the county," establishing points in townships such as Zhuolan, Dahu, Tai'an, Shihtan, and Xihu, which do not yet have stations, to promote green energy transportation and create a more cyclist-friendly environment.

The County Government's Department of Transportation and Public Works stated that there are currently 211 public bicycle rental stations across the county, with a total of 2,500 bicycles. To provide a better riding experience, the vehicle configuration balances regular bicycles and electric-assisted bicycles, with a 50/50 ratio, effectively solving the problem of undulating slopes in some sections of the county and making cycling easier and less strenuous. In addition, 25 new stations will be added this year, increasing the total number of stations to 236. (Edited by Lin Shu-hui) 1150505
