(New Taipei, May 5, CNA reporter Tsao Ya-yen) Kuomintang's New Taipei City mayoral candidate Li Sichuan and Democratic Progressive Party's Su Chia-huei both attended the New Taipei Architects Association general meeting today to seek support. The two arrived at the venue successively and shook hands when they met at the entrance.
Kuomintang's New Taipei City mayoral candidate Li Sichuan attended the New Taipei City Architects Association general meeting this afternoon with New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih. When Hou Yu-ih finished his speech and walked off the stage, he patted Li Sichuan's shoulder and said, 'The next baton is yours,' before Li Sichuan went on stage to speak. About ten minutes later, Democratic Progressive Party's New Taipei City mayoral candidate Su Chia-huei also arrived with fellow party councilors and candidates. When Li Sichuan was leaving, the two met at the entrance and shook hands, without much conversation.
Before the meeting, Li Sichuan was interviewed and commented on a poll released today by Zhen Chuan Media showing him leading Su Chia-huei by about 5 percentage points. He stated that he has always regarded polls as reference and will continue to visit all 29 districts of New Taipei to listen to grassroots opinions.
When asked about a weekly magazine's report that his agricultural land in Hsiao Liuchiu, Pingtung, was allegedly involved in illegal development and construction, Li Sichuan emphasized that the land was inherited by him and is co-owned. He stated that the portion of land he owns does not have illegal iron sheet structures, and if other co-owners in his family are involved in illegal construction, 'it should be demolished if it should be.'
Regarding the same poll numbers, Su Chia-huei stated in an interview that at the end of last year, the same media outlet's poll showed a double-digit gap between her and Li Sichuan, and now the gap is so small, indicating an upward trend for her.
Su Chia-huei also said that polls are for reference, but the significant narrowing of the gap between them means that their direction and path are correct. She will work harder to present her vision and explain to citizens the direction she will lead New Taipei City in the future. (Edited by Lin Shu-hui) 1150505
