Cheng Chen-cheng, the acting director of the Penghu Fisheries Biology Research Center under the Ministry of Agriculture''s Fisheries Research Institute, was officially confirmed as director today. He stated that he would use pragmatic scientific research to address the challenges of global environmental change and create a brighter future for Taiwan''s oceans and fisheries. The official inauguration ceremony was held at the Penghu Center, where Director-General Chang Chin-yi announced the confirmation of Cheng''s appointment. Having served at the institute for 27 years and acted as interim director since May last year, Cheng emphasized that the center is a team ready to tackle extreme climate and resource depletion. He added that future research must target the core of issues to create a sustainable future.
