The highest point reached was 40755.52 points, and it closed at 40705.14 points, an increase of 1778.51 points. Both the intraday high, closing index, and points gained set new historical records. Both volume and price rose, with a total transaction value of NT$1.006887 trillion. The king of stocks, TSMC, closed at NT$2275, up NT$140.
Other blue-chip stocks' closing performance: Foxconn rose NT$8 to NT$227.5; MediaTek hit its daily limit at NT$2870; Delta Electronics rose NT$55 to NT$2220.
