Starting from April, the daily limit will increase from NT$1,000 to NT$1,500, and the annual limit from NT$14,000 to NT$15,000, benefiting at least nearly a thousand individuals.

The Taipei City Department of Health held its regular press conference today, stating that in view of the Taipei City Children's Medical Subsidy Program relaxing its eligibility criteria in 114, the number of children registered in Taipei City who obtained Category 1 subsidy qualifications increased to 82.07%, an approximate 17.19% growth compared to the previous year. The overall subsidy coverage and number of beneficiaries have expanded; there are also corresponding measures to alleviate the medical expenditure burden on disadvantaged children's families.

The Department of Health stated that starting from April this year, the Taipei City Children's Medical Subsidy Program will adjust hospitalization medical expense subsidies for Category 2 disadvantaged children, increasing the daily limit from NT$1,000 to NT$1,500 and the annual limit from NT$14,000 to NT$15,000; it is estimated that at least nearly a thousand individuals, such as extremely low birth weight premature infants, low-income households, those with major illnesses and rare diseases who qualify as Category 2 children, will benefit.

The Department of Health also stated that it has opened up participation to cross-district medical institutions. In addition to the existing 290 contracted clinics in Taipei City, a total of 8 regional-level or higher hospitals in the Greater Taipei living circle and Yilan County have joined as contracted institutions, establishing a cross-district medical subsidy service network to improve access to medical care. Based on current data, the strengthened cross-district medical subsidy is estimated to cover 78,442 children qualifying under Category 1 to Category 3.

The Department of Health added that the current cross-district contracted hospitals include Keelung Hospital of the Ministry of Health and Welfare in Keelung City; Taipei Hospital of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Mackay Memorial Hospital Tamsui Branch, Far Eastern Memorial Hospital, and Shuang Ho Hospital of the Ministry of Health and Welfare in New Taipei City; Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Linkou Branch of Chang Gung Medical Foundation in Taoyuan City; and Lo-Hsu Foundation Lotung Po-Ai Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital Luodong of the Catholic Missionaries of Mary in Yilan County, totaling 8 hospitals.
