(Central News Agency reporter Tsao Ya-yen, New Taipei, 4th) In Yonghe District, New Taipei City, a car accelerated and crashed into a roadside power box and overturned last night. No one was injured, but nearby motorcycles were affected, and the driver fled the scene. Police today notified the driver, surnamed Li, who tested positive for drugs and was sent for prosecution on charges including public endangerment.

The Yonghe Precinct of the New Taipei City Police Department received a report that last night, close to 8 PM, a car traveling along Yonghe Zhongzheng Road towards Dehe Road collided with a roadside power box and overturned for unknown reasons, also affecting nearby motorcycles. Fortunately, no one was injured.

According to surveillance footage, the car had stopped at the intersection with its left turn signal on for several seconds before suddenly accelerating to the right and directly crashing into the power box, overturning completely with all four wheels in the air. The driver left the scene without waiting for the police to handle the situation.

After investigation, the Yonghe Precinct today notified the 36-year-old male driver, surnamed Li, to report to the station. A drug saliva rapid screening test showed a positive reaction. He was subsequently transferred to the prosecutor's office for legal processing on charges of public endangerment under the Criminal Code and violations of the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act. Furthermore, regarding the hit-and-run, he will be fined and have his driver's license suspended in accordance with the Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act. (Edited by Hsiao Po-wen) 1150504
