(Central News Agency reporter Li Jian-Zhong, Taoyuan 4th) Lin Yi-Kai, a student at National Taiwan Sport University, won the gold medal in the Men's 110m Hurdles final at the 115th National College Games today, breaking his personal best with a time of 13.56 seconds; this result is the second-best in Taiwan's history, second only to the national record of 13.34 seconds.

After the start of today's National College Games Men's 110m Hurdles, Lin Yi-Kai and Hsieh Yuan-Kai of National Kaohsiung Normal University were neck and neck until the final two hurdles, when Lin slightly pulled ahead, successfully winning gold with his personal best. Hsieh Yuan-Kai finished second with 13.74 seconds.

Lin Yi-Kai stated in an interview with the Central News Agency reporter that this result was not entirely unexpected, as he had achieved a time of 13.50 seconds in practice. Therefore, although he felt some anxiety before the race, his goal was to break his personal best, and he is very happy that he accomplished it.

Lin Yi-Kai has already met the Nagoya Asian Games qualifying standard multiple times and is currently maintaining a rhythm of competing almost once a week to train through competition. “My condition has been really good recently, and I hope to maintain it until the second half of the year to see if I can consistently run under 13.50 seconds in competitions.”

Chen Kuei-Ju, the national record holder for the Men's 110m Hurdles, is Lin Yi-Kai's senior, and the two often exchange insights during practice; Lin Yi-Kai pointed out, “My senior always watches and gives me timely advice and confidence. Sometimes I feel like the national record holder is practicing with me, which feels very surreal, and I hope to learn as much as possible.”

Regarding his goals for the second half of the year, Lin Yi-Kai firmly stated that he hopes to reach the finals at the Asian Games. Getting on the podium might require a bit more effort. “In addition, August marks the beginning of the scoring period for the World Athletics Championships, and I hope to have the opportunity to participate in the World Championships and fulfill my dream.” (Edited by Chen Ren-Hua) 1150504
