(Central News Agency reporter Wang Hongguo, New Taipei, 4th) New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih today attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the MRT Sanying Line's "Sanxia Station Exit 1 Metro Development Project." Hou Yu-ih stated in a media interview during his attendance at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Sanying Line Sanxia Station Exit 1 Metro Development Project that the Sanying Line will report for inspection to the Ministry of Transportation in May, and thus has a chance to open by mid-year. After opening, it will save nearly 20 minutes of commuting time from Sanxia and Yingge to Taipei.
Hou Yu-ih stated that the Sanying Line has 7 joint development projects, 5 of which have completed招商 (investment promotion), 3 are under construction, and 2 are applying for construction permits. He hopes all 7 projects can be completed on schedule and with quality, expecting to bring in 14,000 residents, thereby driving the great development of Sanxia and Yingge.
When asked by the media about the rat infestation dispute between New Taipei and Taipei, Hou Yu-ih stated that he has instructed the Department of Health, Department of Civil Affairs, and Environmental Protection Department in accordance with the Communicable Disease Control Act to fully implement the central government's three directives of "no rats living, no rats coming, no rats eating," focusing on thorough cleaning of surrounding environments such as underground sewers and fire lanes, hoping everyone will cooperate to eliminate the rat problem.
Hou Yu-ih also commented on the proposal by KMT New Taipei City mayoral candidate Lee Sichuan to upgrade TPASS to include high-speed rail, stating that if it can be done successfully and works well, allowing for more diversified transportation options that are cheaper and more convenient for citizens, he would certainly be happy to see it happen.
