(Central News Agency reporter Lu Chia-jung, Taipei, May 4) In response to the New Taipei District Prosecutors Office indicting Chinese spouse Xu Chun-ying for alleged violations of the Anti-infiltration Act, the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) stated today that the competent authorities will review Xu Chun-ying's residency status in Taiwan ex officio.

Xu Chun-ying is suspected of long-term association with Yang Wen-tao, Director of the 'Cross-Strait Marriage and Family Service Center' under China's Ministry of Civil Affairs, and Sun Xian, Deputy Director of the 'Homeland Peaceful Unification Promotion Committee' of the Shanghai Committee of the 'Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang'. She allegedly accepted instructions to campaign for candidates, and the New Taipei Prosecutors Office has indicted her for alleged violations of the Anti-infiltration Act and sought a heavy sentence.

Today's Liberty Times reported that an informed official revealed that Xu Chun-ying, who holds a Taiwanese ID card, will have her residency status revoked by the administrative agency, losing her Taiwanese identity and eligibility for national health insurance, but will still be tried in Taiwan.

The MAC stated in a written response today that according to the prosecutor's indictment, Xu Chun-ying did cooperate with the CCP's instructions to campaign and stump for specific political party candidates, and regularly reported on Taiwan's political situation to the CCP. These actions allegedly violate the Anti-infiltration Act, the Act Governing Relations Between the People of the Taiwan Area and the Mainland Area, and relevant laws.
