(Central News Agency reporter Yang Chi-fang, Seoul, 4th) Korean director Kim Chang-min died last year after being assaulted by other customers while dining at a restaurant. Half a year later, the court today issued arrest warrants for two suspects, who will be investigated by prosecutors while in custody due to concerns of flight risk and evidence tampering.

Last October, Kim Chang-min was dining with his son, who has a developmental disability, at a restaurant in Guri City, Gyeonggi Province, when an argument over noise with other customers escalated into a violent incident. Kim Chang-min was beaten into a coma and sent to the hospital but never regained consciousness. He was diagnosed with brain death 17 days later and donated organs to four people, leaving a legacy of love.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Namyangju Branch of Uijeongbu District Court today issued arrest warrants for two 31-year-old suspects. The judge stated that due to concerns of flight risk and evidence tampering, the two will be investigated by prosecutors while in custody and subsequently transferred for prosecution.

The two suspects are accused of assaulting Kim Chang-min to death (causing death by injury) in front of a restaurant in Guri City, Gyeonggi Province, around 1 AM on October 20 last year, after an argument over noise.

In the initial stages of the case, the police applied for an arrest warrant, but the court rejected it on grounds such as "no flight risk." Subsequently, the Criminal Division 2 of the Uijeongbu District Prosecutors' Office Namyangju Branch, which took over the case, formed a special team. After supplementary investigations, including interviewing Kim Chang-min's son with a developmental disability and searching the suspects' residences and mobile phones, they reapplied for an arrest warrant on the 28th of last month.

In addition, the prosecutors have now added charges that the two abused Kim Chang-min's son with a developmental disability by assaulting him in front of him, constituting emotional abuse and violating the Welfare Act for Persons with Disabilities. Prosecutors stated, "We will fully prove the suspects' crimes based on evidence and legal principles to prevent the victim from being wronged, and we will also ensure the suspects receive punishments commensurate with their offenses."
