(Central News Agency reporter Chao Min-ya, Taipei, 4th) Minister of the National Development Council (NDC), Yeh Chun-hsien, on the 3rd, U.S. Eastern Time, together with Minister of Economic Affairs Kung Ming-hsin, jointly participated in the "SelectUSA Investment Summit" hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington. Yeh Chun-hsien stated that Taiwanese startups are demonstrating high innovation energy in smart fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) and health, and the NDC will continue to cooperate with relevant ministries to assist Taiwanese enterprises and startups in deepening their international presence.

The NDC issued a press release stating that Yeh Chun-hsien and Kung Ming-hsin jointly participated in the "SelectUSA Investment Summit," marking the first time a delegation has been jointly led by two ministers to the U.S. They interacted with participating Taiwanese startups at the event and congratulated 8 startups for being shortlisted among the top 8 in various global fields.

Yeh Chun-hsien pointed out that Taiwan has long been one of the largest overseas delegations to SelectUSA and is highly valued by the U.S. side. The United States is a key market and cooperation partner for Taiwanese startup teams. Taiwanese startups are demonstrating high innovation energy in smart fields such as AI, health, national defense, and energy, possessing not only strong technical capabilities but also solid potential to enter international markets.

The NDC noted that among the 37 startups participating in this SelectUSA delegation from Taiwan, 7 teams have also been selected among the top 100 in the domestic "Startup Blossom - Startup Grand Alliance Competition," with 5 of them further advancing to the final 30-strong competition, demonstrating their potential for connecting with international markets.

The NDC stated that the Startup Blossom project provides a total startup support fund of over NT$300 million. Through two stages of training and professional mentor guidance, it optimizes the startup development environment, assisting teams in enhancing their competitiveness and stepping onto the international stage.

The NDC explained that to help Taiwanese startups connect globally, the Startup Island TAIWAN Silicon Valley Hub was established in the U.S. in January 2025, creating a two-way innovation cooperation platform between Taiwan and Silicon Valley, serving as an important fulcrum for expanding overseas presence. The platform will connect innovation resources across the U.S., including Silicon Valley venture capital and talent, the Greater Phoenix semiconductor ecosystem, and Boston biomedical, providing consultation services for local establishment, resource matching, and other support, having already served over 200 startups.

Yeh Chun-hsien stated that the NDC will continue to cooperate with ministries such as the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Financial Supervisory Commission to assist Taiwanese enterprises and startups in deepening their international presence. He also looks forward to startups growing stronger and returning to invest in Taiwan, hoping to create more mutual prosperity and expand Taiwan-U.S. cooperation capacity in technological innovation and industrial development, allowing their respective advantages to exert greater influence in the global market.
