(Central News Agency reporter Li Jian-chung, Taipei, 4th) Taiwanese racing driver Chou Chun-ting won a round in the Le Mans European Series today, becoming the first person in Taiwanese history to do so.

The Le Mans European Series round won by Chou Chun-ting is a championship spun off from the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race. There are also the American Le Mans Series and the Japanese Le Mans Series (which has been discontinued).

The 24 Hours of Le Mans (24 Heures du Mans) is an annual prototype and touring car endurance race held every summer in Le Mans, a small town 200 kilometers southwest of Paris, France. First held in 1923, it is the oldest continuously running automobile endurance race in the world.

Due to his father's influence, Chou Chun-ting started karting at age 5 and racing at age 10. He once aspired to become a professional racer, bringing glory to Taiwan on the international stage. (Edited by Li Heng-shan) 1150504
