(Central News Agency reporter Huang Kuo-fang, Chiayi City, 4th) The Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Office announced the results of the outsourcing evaluation for the operation of Hinoki Village in Chiayi City. Lakeshore Hotel Group emerged as the top-ranked bidder and will take over operations starting June 1. The office hopes that through professional hotel service systems and management philosophy, it will promote tourism development.
The Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Office today issued a press release stating that Lakeshore Hotel Group presented a concrete and comprehensive blueprint for the preservation of cultural assets, brand marketing, and operational management of the park, demonstrating a high vision for execution, ultimately leading to its selection.
The office stated that on January 15 this year, the "Chiayi City Hinoki Village Operation Transfer and Continued Entrustment Contract" was terminated. The next day, the management rights of Hinoki Village were reclaimed and managed independently, while also initiating public tender procedures. The evaluation results were announced on April 30, with the lease term running from June 1 this year until December 31, 2028.
The Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Office pointed out that Lakeshore Hotel Group plans to establish a cyclical business model for Hinoki Village that combines "accommodation introduction, park experience, quality consumption, and loyal revisits." Drawing inspiration from Japan's Hoshino Area "Hoshino Onsen Tombo-no-yu" (Yaguruma Town) in Karuizawa, they are committed to creating a slow-paced living space, allowing visitors to experience local life.
The office expressed anticipation for the collaboration and hopes that through a professional hotel service system and management philosophy, it will revitalize the cultural landmark, improve the quality of park services, and promote tourism development in the Chiayi area.
The Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Office noted that Hinoki Village was entrusted to Hinoki Village Co., Ltd. (檜意森活村股份有限公司) for operation in 2013 under the Act for Promotion of Private Participation in Infrastructure Projects (促參法) via an OT (Operate-Transfer) model. Hinoki Village Co., Ltd. renewed its contract for five years on March 1, 2024, but due to financial difficulties in the responsible person's other businesses, resulting in outstanding rent for the 2025 fiscal year, the Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Office terminated the contract and reclaimed management rights on January 15 this year.
