Taoyuan, May 4 (CNA) Taiwan's national record holder in women's shot put, Chiang Ching-yuan, competed with an injury in today's 115th National University Games final, ultimately winning a silver medal with a throw of 15.93 meters. She stated that since returning from the United States, she is still absorbing new techniques and is indeed dissatisfied with this result.

Chiang Ching-yuan, only 19 years old and a student at National Taiwan Sport University, had a breakthrough year last year. She first set a new national record in women's shot put at a track and field meet in Shizuoka in May, then won a bronze medal at the Asian Championships, and in October, she again broke the national record with 18.08 meters to claim gold at the National Games, becoming the first Taiwanese female shot putter to throw over 18 meters.

Unexpectedly, Chiang Ching-yuan accidentally injured her left shoulder during training at the end of last year. She then continued to train and compete with the injury, before going to the United States for training on March 1 this year, returning to Taiwan in late April.

In today's National University Games women's shot put final, Chiang Ching-yuan had only 2 successful throws out of 6 attempts, winning silver with her fifth throw of 15.93 meters. Wu Tzu-en, also a student at National Taiwan Sport University, won gold with 16.22 meters.

Chiang Ching-yuan told the media that she participated in three competitions during her training in the US. "The American coaches gave me a lot of information and new techniques, which I am still digesting. I also need to discuss with coach Lu Ching-yi to find the most suitable way for me."

Chiang Ching-yuan mentioned that her training in the US was quite interesting. "Perhaps because I've always had only one coach, it suddenly felt very fresh; American coaches don't emphasize heavy weight training as much, but rather focus on technical details, which is a completely different feeling."

Regarding her shoulder injury, Chiang Ching-yuan revealed that it no longer affects her movements much. She hopes to achieve good results in the upcoming New Taipei International Athletics Open. (Editor: Chang Ya-ching) 1150504
