(CNA reporter Cheng Wei-chen, Changhua, 4th) Early this morning, a man surnamed Gao drove his car in Changhua City, colliding with a motorcycle and another passenger car, causing 2 deaths and 2 injuries. Mr. Gao's father rushed to the hospital to express his apologies. The Changhua Police Precinct stated that the driver's alcohol test was 0, and he is currently undergoing emergency treatment. Police will investigate whether drug driving was involved.

The Changhua Precinct of the Changhua County Police Bureau explained that around 4 AM this morning, Mr. Gao was driving his car at high speed on Zhonghua West Road in Changhua City, Changhua County. He first collided with a motorcycle traveling in the same direction, and then with an oncoming passenger car. This resulted in the motorcycle rider and the oncoming passenger car driver being sent to the hospital for emergency treatment but later succumbing to their injuries, while the passenger of the oncoming car and the at-fault driver himself were injured.

Police stated that the cause of the accident is still under investigation. Preliminary tests showed no alcohol in the at-fault driver's system. As he is still receiving emergency treatment in the hospital, a rapid drug screening cannot be performed. The police have already applied to the Changhua District Prosecutors Office for a warrant for forensic evaluation to determine if he was driving under the influence of drugs.
