(Central News Agency, New York, 3rd, comprehensive foreign news report) Boeing is expected to appear in court again tomorrow to face the latest civil lawsuit arising from the Ethiopian Airlines 737 MAX crash. This case was filed by the family of a young American non-governmental organization (NGO) worker who died in the accident.

According to Agence France-Presse, if a last-minute settlement is not reached, the case will be heard in Chicago federal court, with jury selection expected on the 4th and 5th, and opening statements on the 6th.

Samya Stumo died in the Ethiopian Airlines crash in March 2019. At the time, she was traveling to Kenya to undertake her first mission for ThinkWell, a public health NGO dedicated to improving healthcare accessibility in Africa and Asia.

However, the aircraft crashed shortly after taking off from Addis Ababa, killing all on board. This occurred about four and a half months after the Lion Air crash in Indonesia. These two crashes collectively claimed 346 lives.

Boeing admitted that both crashes were related to anti-stall software.

Boeing initially faced 155 civil lawsuits, including allegations of wrongful death and negligence, but has since settled with the vast majority of claimants.

For the few cases that proceed to trial, including Stumo's case, the focus is not on criminal conviction but on determining the amount of compensation Boeing should provide to the victims' families. (Compiler: Chen Yu-ting) 1150504
