Taipei, May 4 (CNA) Panel manufacturer AU Optronics (AUO) announced today that it will showcase next-generation display technologies centered on Micro LED, integrating optics, sensing, and artificial intelligence (AI) systems, along with energy-saving and low-carbon oriented display technologies, at the global display technology event SID Display Week 2026.

AUO explained that, leveraging its deep display technology foundation spanning materials, processes, driving, and system integration, AUO has been selected to present multiple technical papers at SID 2026. Research topics include Micro LED display technology, ultra-low power display technology and new materials, advanced packaging and optoelectronic integration, as well as cross-domain integration of display, sensing, low-earth orbit satellites, and optical communication.

AUO transforms forward-looking research into subsequent product strategy blueprints. At this global display event, it will demonstrate virtual-real integrated experiences with Micro LED and augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) bidirectional empowerment; utilizing the fusion of optics, sensing, and extended reality (XR) to create safe and intuitive smart cockpits, and green technologies that support high performance and low energy consumption, responding to key demands under diverse AI interactions, and continuously leading the evolution of display technology.

AUO pointed out that through the Micro LED technology platform, it combines transparent display with augmented reality and AI to verify an expandable interactive architecture. AUO leverages the high brightness and bezel-less splicing characteristics of transparent Micro LED, consolidating the highly integrated software and hardware solution capabilities of its subsidiary, AUO Display Plus. This integrates AR visual overlay and AI computing architecture into the interactive link, verifying the technological path of Micro LED evolving from a display component to an interactive platform.

AUO Display Plus will showcase a 64-inch AR interactive display smart solution for sports events, enabling real-time overlay and stable presentation of information through eye-tracking and low-latency system computing. A 30-inch AR interactive luxury cabinet will combine transparent display with real-time gesture sensing and computing, allowing virtual images to be precisely and continuously interacted with on a transparent interface.

In addition, a 42-inch interactive ordering and translation machine integrates high-transparency dual-sided display with multimodal AI inference, allowing voice, text, and images to be processed in real-time on a single display platform and presented separately on both sides. This highlights the evolution of displays from information output interfaces to intelligent human-machine interaction interfaces that can understand and respond. (Editor: Chang Chun-mao) 1150504
