(Central News Agency reporter Li Chien-chung, Taipei, May 3) At the 41st Shizuoka International Athletics Meet held in Japan, 'Taiwan's fastest man' Yang Chun-han clocked the fastest time of 10.24 seconds in today's preliminaries. However, he decided to withdraw from the finals to adjust his physical condition, preparing for two consecutive weeks of high-intensity competitions ahead.

Taiwan's national record holder for the men's 100 meters, Yang Chun-han, successfully achieved the Nagoya Asian Games qualifying standard with a time of 10.11 seconds, matching his national record, at a competition in the United States on April 18 this year. He returned to Taiwan on April 30 and headed to Japan yesterday to participate in the Shizuoka International Athletics Meet.

Still adjusting to the time difference, Yang Chun-han ran the best time of 10.24 seconds across all three preliminary heats, successfully advancing to the finals. However, considering his physical condition and future schedule, he decided to withdraw from the finals.

Yang Chun-han told Central News Agency reporters through his agent that he is still experiencing some effects of jet lag, so this competition was treated as an adjustment. He found his preliminary performance acceptable, and now his focus is entirely on preparing for the competitions in the next two weeks.

According to Yang Chun-han's plan, he will go to Osaka next week to participate in the Kinami Michitaka Athletics Meet, then move on to Tokyo for the Gold Label Tokyo Track and Field Meet. For him, this means three consecutive weeks of challenges.

Yang Chun-han revealed that his full focus is now on preparing for the Nagoya Asian Games, aiming to use competitions as training. He also hopes to perform well at the New Taipei City International Track and Field Open after competing in the three Japanese events.

Besides Yang Chun-han, Ko Wu Yen-ming also advanced to the men's 200-meter finals at the Shizuoka International Athletics Meet, ultimately running 21.20 seconds to place 7th. Lo Pei-lin competed in the women's 400-meter hurdles timed finals, finishing with a time of 58.17 seconds, missing out on a spot on the podium. (Edited by Chang Ya-ching)1150503
