(Central News Agency reporter Li Jian-chong Taipei 3rd) The Taipei City University men's artistic gymnastics team won the gold medal today at the 115th National Intercollegiate Athletic Games, completing a consecutive championship. However, captain Hsiao Yu-ran awkwardly said: "I made quite a few mistakes, I feel a bit ashamed."

Hsiao Yu-ran is Taiwan's second-best pommel horse athlete after Li Chih-kai. At 26 years old, he is a doctoral student at Taipei City University and the oldest and most experienced athlete on the team, naturally taking on the role of an elder brother figure.

In today's National University Games men's artistic gymnastics team event, Hsiao Yu-ran competed in all six apparatuses: floor, pommel horse, rings, parallel bars, horizontal bar, and vault, demonstrating his fighting spirit by leading by example.

Hsiao Yu-ran told a Central News Agency reporter that as a more senior athlete, he originally thought he could stabilize the team's morale, but he himself made many mistakes, feeling a bit ashamed. "Fortunately, my teammates were very supportive, and we worked together to win this gold medal."

Hsiao Yu-ran revealed that he experienced abdominal cramps during core training two weeks ago, and last week when he returned to Taipei, he had severe sneezing due to nasal allergies, which caused abdominal cramps. "So, the condition of my core muscles today was indeed not very well recovered."

Regarding upcoming competitions, Hsiao Yu-ran plans to compete in four events at the Asian Championships: floor, pommel horse, rings, and vault. Besides striving for points for the team and even medals, he also wants to create more opportunities for himself in individual finals.

Hsiao Yu-ran stated that after the Asian Championships, he will wait for the association to announce the selection criteria for the Asian Games, hoping to qualify for the national team and win a gymnastics medal for Taiwan at the Nagoya Asian Games. (Editor: Chang Ya-ching) 1150503
