Police said one vehicle inadvertently veered from its original lane, crossed the double yellow line, and collided with an oncoming vehicle. This resulted in seven people, including the drivers and passengers of both vehicles, suffering abrasions and contusions and being sent to the hospital for treatment. According to the Taichung City Police Department's First Precinct, at approximately 1:38 PM, they received a report of a head-on collision between two private cars on Yingcai Road in the West District.
Preliminary police investigation found that a male named Chen was driving a private car along Yingcai Road towards Minsheng Road in the West District. While passing the accident site, due to driver inattention, his vehicle veered from its original lane and crossed the double yellow line, colliding with a private car driven by a male named Hsiao, which was coming from the opposite direction.
Police stated that the accident caused a total of seven people, including the drivers and passengers from both sides, to suffer abrasions and contusions. Fortunately, all were conscious and were sent to China Medical University Hospital and the Ministry of Health and Welfare Taichung Hospital for treatment.
Police conducted alcohol tests at the scene and found that neither driver had consumed alcohol. Regarding the violation of a vehicle crossing the double yellow line, according to the "Road Traffic Management and Punishment Act," a fine of NT$600 to NT$1800 can be imposed.
