Today, the Husi Township Office's spring cleanup activity took place along the coastline surrounding a fish farm near Zhongzheng Bridge, which borders Husi and Baisha townships. Husi Township Mayor Chen Chen-chung, Director Tsai Chi-hsien of the Penghu Environmental Protection Bureau, and nearly 20 groups including Husi Township's affiliated agencies, schools, garrison troops, and communities, totaling over 200 people, worked together under the scorching sun to pick up marine debris.
Chen Chen-chung stated that Penghu's northern coastline, with the arrival of the fierce northeast monsoon, accumulates a large amount of marine debris that drifts with the tides, impacting the beautiful coastal scenery and ecology. Through this holiday, various public and private sectors were mobilized to collectively participate in the cleanup, effectively improving the coastal environment and allowing Penghu's clean coastline to endure.
The Husi Township Office reported that today's cleanup activity cleared a total of 3288 kilograms of various marine debris. General waste accounted for 1288 kilograms and PET bottles for 1080 kilograms, followed by driftwood, styrofoam, buoys, floats, and discarded fishing nets, all around 200 kilograms.
