President Lai Meets Eswatini King, Taiwan-Eswatini Sign Joint Communiqué to Deepen Cooperation

TAIPEI, May 3 (CNA) – President Lai Ching-te arrived in the African ally Eswatini for a state visit and met with His Majesty King Mswati III today. The Eswatini government stated that this visit not only once again demonstrates the deep and long-standing friendship between Taiwan and Eswatini but also further consolidates their solid diplomatic partnership.

The Eswatini government posted on social media "Facebook" that during the bilateral meeting, President Lai and King Mswati III jointly witnessed the signing of a "Joint Communiqué."

The post pointed out that this Joint Communiqué aims to strengthen cooperation between Taiwan and Eswatini and is committed to promoting bilateral trade.

The Joint Communiqué was signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung and Eswatini's Minister of Foreign Affairs Pholile Shakantu.

President Lai led a delegation that arrived in Eswatini for a state visit at 9 AM local time on May 2. Presidential Office spokesperson Kuo Ya-hui stated that despite the recent temporary postponement of the itinerary due to unwarranted external factors, this will not affect Taiwan's will to go global, nor will Taiwan be absent from the world because of it.
