(Central News Agency reporter Li Hsien-feng Hualien County 3rd) A man surnamed Cai in Ji'an Township, Hualien, recently got into an argument with friends after drinking and was cut on his hand and head with a sharp object. When police and firefighters arrived after receiving the report, after bandaging, they were putting him into the ambulance when Mr. Cai suddenly attacked the paramedics and punched and damaged the ambulance door. The police are investigating the case on charges of damaging public property and other offenses.

The Hualien County Police Bureau's Ji'an Precinct stated today that the Ji'an Police Station recently received a report in the evening that an injured person was sitting by the roadside near Jixing 5th Street. When the police rushed to the scene, they learned that the 59-year-old man surnamed Cai and three other people, including his friend Mr. Huang and his wife, were drinking at home. During the banquet, Mr. Cai allegedly became dissatisfied with his friend's physical actions and suddenly lost control, throwing a chair at his friend, which prompted Mr. Huang to step forward to protect his wife and confront him. During the physical altercation, Mr. Cai's right arm was cut by a sharp object. Afterwards, Mr. Cai left the scene injured and sat by the roadside due to exhaustion.

When police and firefighters arrived to bandage him and assist him in seeking medical attention, Mr. Cai was in a state of extreme intoxication. Not only did he refuse to cooperate with the rescue, but he also suddenly punched the rear door of the ambulance, causing damage to the vehicle's sheet metal. Officers at the scene immediately subdued him with the firefighters and forcibly sent him to the hospital.

Regarding Mr. Cai's acts of damaging public property and obstructing official duties, the police have collected evidence and initiated an investigation according to law. Furthermore, regarding Mr. Huang's alleged involvement in assault, the police have completed witness statements, and the entire case has been referred to the Hualien District Prosecutor's Office for investigation.

Ji'an Precinct urges that friends and family should drink in moderation during gatherings and not let alcohol lead to emotional outbursts and loss of control. If disputes arise, remain calm and call 110 for police assistance. Violent means to resolve problems are strictly prohibited. (Editor: Chang Ming-kun) 1150503
