Tainan female police officer killed in rear-end collision, involved female college student bows at mourning hall and leaves

(Central News Agency reporter Chang Jung-hsiang, Tainan 2nd) A female police officer surnamed Cheng from the Fourth Precinct of the Tainan City Police Department was riding her motorcycle on April 28 when she was rear-ended by another motorcycle, swerved, collided with a tour bus, fell to the ground, and was run over, resulting in her death. The female college student surnamed Dai, involved in the accident, appeared at the mourning hall today to bow before leaving, remaining silent when questioned by the media.

The mourning hall for the deceased officer Cheng was set up at the Tainan City Funeral Management Office. Ms. Dai, accompanied by her family, paid her respects by bowing at 10 AM today, but media access was not permitted. Ms. Dai and her companions then left in a car with solemn expressions.

The family of officer Cheng, interviewed by the media, said, "She did what she was supposed to do," "This was what she should do," and "We still can't let go."

The 28-year-old officer Cheng was riding her motorcycle at around 7 AM on April 28 on Anhe Road Section 2, Annan District, Tainan City, when she allegedly slowed down due to traffic. Ms. Dai, riding her motorcycle, allegedly failed to notice the traffic conditions ahead and rear-ended her, causing officer Cheng to swerve left, collide with a tour bus, fall, and be run over, dying on the spot.
