Huang Yaling, Director of the Tainan City Government Cultural Affairs Bureau, presented the cultural heritage registration certificate to Huang Meimei today at the Nansheng Society's Spring Mengfu Langjun Festival and String Tuning Assembly, acknowledging her contributions to the preservation and transmission of Nanguan music.
The Tainan City Cultural Heritage Management Office noted that Huang Meimei has been involved with Nanguan at Nansheng Society since childhood, with a connection spanning nearly 60 years. Her singing techniques were inherited from masters such as Wu Daohong, Qiu Songrong, Chen Jiangxue, Lin Qiuxiu, and Zhang Hongming, displaying an ancient, delicate, and movingly graceful style. For instruments, she studied under Xie Yongqin and Zhang Hongming, excelling in 'zhi', 'pu', and 'qu' and capable of playing various instruments.
Huang Meimei is also enthusiastic about promoting Nanguan. Since 1997 (Minguo 86), she has instructed and taught at various Nanguan groups, including Wanli Hesheng Society, Xiageding Zhennan Society, and Xishu Elementary School Xisheng Society.
