When signaled to stop, the two vehicles fled in different directions, leading to a street chase. Police issued 31 tickets, totaling over NT$120,000 in fines, and will summon the drivers for interrogation.

The Hualien Police Precinct stated that two police officers from the Ziqiang Police Station were patrolling Zhongshan Road in Hualien City around 0:00 AM when they noticed a white car and a motorcycle temporarily parked in front of the Guó'ān Post Office. The car driver handed a bag to the motorcyclist, which raised suspicions of an illegal transaction. The police immediately signaled for the vehicles to stop for inspection.

However, the car and motorcycle ignored the command and accelerated to escape. The patrol car chased them with sirens blaring from Zhongshan Road, Shangxiao Street, all the way to in front of the Emperor's Temple. After the two vehicles split up and fled, the police continued to pursue the car, which inadvertently collided with the exterior wall of a store in an alley. The left front of the patrol car was damaged, but fortunately, no one was injured.

The police investigation revealed that the white car was a rental. The identity of the driver has been traced, and 31 traffic tickets have been issued for various violations, including refusal to stop for inspection and running red lights, with a total fine of approximately NT$120,000. The drivers of both the car and motorcycle will be actively summoned for questioning.

Regarding the damage to the store's exterior wall during the pursuit, the police stated that they have contacted the business owner and will take responsibility for compensation after the assessment of damages. (Editor: Li Shu-hua) 1150502
