Labor Day Holiday Day 2: 8 National Freeway Sections Expected to Be Congested in the Morning

The Freeway Bureau stated that 8 sections are expected to be congested in the morning, including National Freeway 1 Southbound (Yangmei-Toufen) and National Freeway 5 Southbound (Nangang System-Toucheng). It is recommended that southbound travelers on western national freeways depart after noon, and southbound travelers on National Freeway 5 depart after 5 PM.

The Labor Day holiday is three days long, and today is the second day. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications' Freeway Bureau issued a press release stating that the traffic volume from 0 AM to 5 AM was approximately 4.8 million vehicle-kilometers. Currently, national road conditions are generally normal. As of 7 AM, the traffic volume was 8.6 million vehicle-kilometers, and today's estimated traffic volume is 107 million vehicle-kilometers, which is 1.2 times the average daily volume for a normal year.

According to the Freeway Bureau's forecast for key congested sections this morning, they include National Freeway 1 Southbound (Yangmei-Toufen, Changhua System-Puyan System), Northbound (Yuanshan-Dahua System); National Freeway 3 Southbound (Tucheng-Guanxi, Kuaiguan-Wufeng, Caotun-Mingjian); National Freeway 5 Southbound (Nangang System-Toucheng); and National Freeway 10 Eastbound (Dingjin System-Yanchao System).

The Freeway Bureau recommends that southbound travelers on western national freeways try to depart after 12 PM, and southbound travelers on National Freeway 5 are advised to depart after 5 PM. For northbound travelers on western national freeways, it is recommended that those in the southern regions depart before 9 AM, and those in the central regions depart before 12 PM. For northbound travelers on National Freeway 5, it is recommended to depart before 9 AM to save valuable time.

Regarding today's national freeway traffic control measures, the Freeway Bureau pointed out that they include the closure of National Freeway 1 Puyan System, National Freeway 5 Shiding, and Pinglin Southbound entrances from 5 AM to 12 PM; the closure of National Freeway 1 Huwei, Puyan System, and National Freeway 3 Xibin Northbound entrances from 12 PM to 9 PM; high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) control for National Freeway 5 Su'ao, Luodong, Yilan, and Toucheng Northbound entrances from 1 PM to 6 PM; a single-rate toll, an 80% discount for National Freeway 3 Hsinchu System to Yanchao System, free tolls from 0 AM to 5 AM, opening of shoulders, alternative routes, and ramp metering.
