(Central News Agency Tehran 1st Comprehensive Foreign Report) The foundation of Iranian human rights activist Narges Mohammadi said today that the imprisoned 2023 Nobel Peace Prize laureate's health has undergone a "catastrophic deterioration," including a cardiac crisis, and she is currently receiving treatment at an Iranian hospital.

Reuters reported that the secretary of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, responsible for awarding the Nobel Peace Prize, expressed concern yesterday over the health deterioration of Mohammadi, who is in her 50s, after she reportedly suffered a heart attack in prison.

The Narges Mohammadi Foundation, managed by Mohammadi's family, issued a statement on its official website today, stating that Mohammadi "due to a catastrophic deterioration in her health, including two episodes of complete unconsciousness and one severe cardiac crisis, was urgently transferred today to a hospital in Zanjan."

The statement also said that Mohammadi, who has undergone three angioplasty surgeries, collapsed this morning after several days of dangerous high blood pressure and severe nausea. Her urgent hospitalization is a "desperate critical moment" measure, and there is a possibility that it may be too late to respond to her critical health needs, with her right to life facing a "direct and imminent" threat.

Mohammadi was awarded the Nobel Prize while in prison for promoting women's rights and the abolition of the death penalty in Iran. Last December, she was again arrested for allegedly making inflammatory remarks after denouncing the cause of lawyer Khosrow Alikordi's death at his memorial service.

Mohammadi's foundation stated in February that she was sentenced to an additional seven and a half years in prison, at which time the Norwegian Nobel Committee called for her immediate release. However, weeks later, a war broke out between the United States and Israel against Iran. (Edited by Chang Cheng-chien) 1150502
