(Central News Agency reporter Huang Ciao-wen, Taipei, 2nd) On the second day of the Labor Day holiday, weather expert Wu Derong stated that today and tomorrow will be sunny with some clouds, warm and hot during the day, with high temperatures in the south reaching 34 degrees Celsius. The first plum rain front is expected to arrive late on the 3rd to early on the 4th, bringing local showers or thunderstorms to central and northern Taiwan, and a chance of brief rainfall in southern areas.

The Labor Day holiday lasts for three days, and today is the second day. Wu Derong, an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at National Central University, stated in the "Xie Tian Ji Classroom" column of the Meteorological Applications Promotion Foundation today that the latest European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) simulation shows that today and tomorrow will be sunny with some clouds, warm and hot during the day, cooler in the morning and evening, with possible brief local rainfall in mountainous areas and Hualien-Taitung in the afternoon.

Regarding temperatures in various regions, Wu Derong pointed out that today's forecast is 18 to 31 degrees Celsius for the north, 20 to 33 degrees for the central region, 20 to 34 degrees for the south, and 19 to 31 degrees for the east.

Wu Derong stated that the latest model simulation shows that the first plum rain front (May, June) will arrive late on the 3rd to early on the 4th, affecting until the 5th, bringing local showers or thunderstorms to central and northern Taiwan, and a chance of brief local showers or thunderstorms in southern areas. Temperatures will drop across all regions, and northern Taiwan will become cooler.

Wu Derong pointed out that from the daytime on the 6th to the 7th, the front will weaken and move away, and the weather will improve across all regions, becoming warm and hot during the day, with possible brief local rainfall in mountainous areas and the eastern half in the afternoon. He mentioned that on the 8th, before another front and within a warm air mass, all regions will be sunny with some clouds, hot like summer, with possible brief local rainfall in mountainous areas in the afternoon.

Wu Derong stated that the latest European model simulation has been adjusted to show that on the 9th and 10th, the second plum rain front will affect the weather, causing changes, and on the 11th, the front will weaken and move away, and the weather will improve across all regions. As the late-stage simulations of various national models are inconsistent and will continue to be adjusted, further observation is needed. (Editor: Li Heng-shan) 1150502
