TOKYO (CNA) — A 33-year-old male employee of Asahiyama Zoo in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, Tatsuya Suzuki, was sent to prosecutors today on suspicion of desecrating his wife Yui Suzuki's body within the zoo premises around March 31 of this year. He was arrested yesterday for allegedly transporting and burning her body. The suspect admitted to the allegations, stating, "That's right," when questioned by investigators after his arrest. Investigators revealed that surveillance cameras near the entrance of Asahiyama Zoo captured the suspect driving a car that night and unloading and carrying a body-sized object, about one meter in size. The police have seized what is believed to be the vehicle the suspect was driving at the time, as well as two zoo vehicles, totaling three vehicles. Police initially speculate that the suspect might have switched to using the zoo's vehicles at the time, traveling from the location captured by surveillance cameras to the incineration plant within the zoo.
