(Central News Agency reporter Li Jian-chung, Taipei, 1st) Yeh Hong-wei, who won the mixed doubles title at this year's All England Badminton Open, attended a coaching camp today at the invitation of a sponsor and played an exhibition match with former Japanese world No. 1 Nozomi Okuhara, which made him exclaim: "I felt Okuhara's passion for badminton."

Yeh Hong-wei and his partner Lee Chia-hsin won the mixed doubles title at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) All England Badminton Open in March this year, becoming the first Taiwanese pair in history to win the mixed doubles title at the All England. After playing one match at the Swiss Open, they withdrew to return to Taiwan for rest.

Yeh Hong-wei attended the badminton coaching camp hosted by Nozomi Okuhara today. Coincidentally, both of them share the same sponsor, and they also played a simple exhibition match on the same stage today.

Yeh Hong-wei said in an interview with the media that such an opportunity is truly rare, especially with a top player like Nozomi Okuhara, and it also allows Taiwanese children to feel the passion and professionalism of world-class players.

He recalled: "When I was a child, I only participated in summer camps organized by Land Bank. At that time, it was almost impossible for world-class big-name players to come to Taiwan to hold similar activities. So, today's children are very fortunate to be able to interact with star players up close like this."

Regarding his recent condition, Yeh Hong-wei believes that the rest and recovery over the past month have been quite good. "After all, I injured my left ankle at the All England, and at that time, I just gritted my teeth and finished the match. After this period of recuperation, it has recovered a lot."

Since Yeh Hong-wei and his partner Lee Chia-hsin are not participating in the ongoing Thomas & Uber Cup badminton tournament, the two will not team up again until the Super 500 Thailand Open on May 12th. (Editor: Long Bo-an) 1150501
