As of 5 PM, the total number of filings nationwide has exceeded 334,801 cases, with refund cases accounting for over 70%, making them the largest proportion. Observing the filing channels, mobile tax filing topped with over 242,367 cases, accounting for 72%, indicating that mobile filing has become the mainstream.
May 1st this year falls on a national holiday, so local national tax bureaus do not provide over-the-counter tax filing services. However, the public can still use online filing and online payment.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Finance until 5 PM today regarding comprehensive income tax filing, there were 334,801 cases nationwide for payment, refund, and no-payment/no-refund, which is about 96,000 fewer cases than on the first day of filing last year. Examining this year's national comprehensive income tax final declaration status, there were 62,978 cases for payment, totaling NT$3,237,723; 237,905 cases for refund, totaling NT$4,062,515; and 33,918 cases for no-payment/no-refund.
Further observation shows that on the first day of filing this year, the northern region had relatively concentrated filing and attachment upload capacity: Taipei National Tax Bureau had 31,661 cases, Northern National Tax Bureau had 135,638 cases, Central National Tax Bureau had 75,593 cases, Southern National Tax Bureau had 51,090 cases, and Kaohsiung National Tax Bureau had 40,819 cases.
Comparing the public's filing methods, mobile tax filing was chosen by 242,367 cases, accounting for 72%; online version by 61,960 cases, accounting for 19%; and offline version by 30,474 cases, accounting for 9%.
The Ministry of Finance reminds the public that a nationwide lottery event continues this year. Taxpayers who complete their tax filing via mobile phone between May 1st and June 1st will have a chance to win. The top prize is NT$50,000 in cash, with other prizes including cash from NT$2,000 to NT$20,000 and electronic gift certificates from NT$200 to NT$500, with a total prize money of NT$5.25 million.
