Central News Agency (Reporter Yeh Chen, Taoyuan, 1st) The Guishan Dapingding area in Taoyuan City has close ties with Taipei and New Taipei cities. To improve convenience for residents seeking medical care and commuting, the Taoyuan City Government has expanded the usage of the Taoyuan Elderly & Care Card. Starting today, it will gradually be open for use on 15 New Taipei City bus routes that pass through the area.
The Taoyuan City Department of Transportation noted that the Guishan Dapingding area is adjacent to Taipei and New Taipei cities, with residents having close ties to their daily lives. Many rely on New Taipei City buses for commuting and daily needs, but in the past, these routes were not included in the scope of Taoyuan Elderly & Care Card points usage.
The Department of Transportation stated that to enhance the convenience for seniors and people with disabilities traveling between Taoyuan and New Taipei, and after coordinating with the New Taipei City Government and bus operators to complete fare reader program adjustments and testing, the usage scope of the Taoyuan Elderly & Care Card is being expanded starting today. Residents can now use it on 14 New Taipei City bus routes passing through the Guishan Dapingding area.
The Department of Transportation also announced that one additional route will be added to the applicable scope starting on the 15th. Residents holding the Taoyuan Elderly & Care Card can use 800 ride subsidy points to offset fares, making commuting, medical visits, and shopping more convenient and bringing the Elderly & Care Card service closer to daily needs.
Director Chang Hsin-fu of the Department of Transportation pointed out that the newly available routes are a total of 15 routes operated by New Taipei City bus companies Sanchong Bus, Taipei Bus, and Metropolitan Bus, including Orange 21, 786, 822, 854, 858, 936, 945, 946, 966, 967, 937, 920, 925, 948, and 898.
Chang Hsin-fu stated that vehicle-mounted systems and system settings have been completed. Among them, Sanchong Bus and Taipei Bus have signed contracts with the Taoyuan City Government Social Welfare Department and will implement the change today. Metropolitan Bus's Route 937 will be implemented starting on the 15th.
The Department of Transportation reminded that Taoyuan Elderly & Care Card points are subsidized monthly, with 800 points per month for general areas and 1000 points per month for Fuxing District. Points are valid only for the current month. If the Elderly & Care Card has been set up with a TPASS Executive Yuan Commuter Pass regular ticket, when riding applicable routes, it will be used according to TPASS rules and will not deduct from the Elderly & Care Card's 800 points.
The Department of Transportation also stated that Taoyuan City's multi-payment QR code for rides does not yet offer Elderly & Care Card point deduction services. Residents using the Taoyuan Elderly & Care Card points to ride New Taipei City buses in the Guishan Dapingding area should use the physical Elderly & Care Card for tapping.
