(CNA Reporter Lu Tai-cheng, Taitung County, May 1st) To nurture local civil engineering talent in Taitung and reduce residents' time and transportation costs for further studies outside the county, the Taitung County Government has partnered with the Department of Civil Engineering at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology to inaugurate the "Taitung Bachelor Credit Class Phase 1." A briefing session is scheduled to be held on May 4th at the Taitung County Government.

The Taitung County Government today issued a press release stating that due to Taitung's vast area, residents wishing to pursue civil engineering credits often face heavy burdens of time and transportation commuting to other counties and cities. To cultivate local talent, the county government is collaborating with National Pingtung University of Science and Technology to bring courses to Taitung, allowing Taitung County residents to obtain professional university credits locally, thereby fostering local learning, local empowerment, and talent development for local service.

The Taitung County Government stated that this civil engineering credit class is planned to cultivate core professional capabilities in civil engineering, bridging the learning needs of those aspiring to obtain civil engineer qualifications. The curriculum spans four semesters, totaling 23 credits, and includes subjects such as engineering mechanics, structural mechanics, and surveying. Classes are scheduled for Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, accommodating the needs of those pursuing further education while working. Participants who complete the courses and meet the requirements will be issued credit certificates.

The Taitung County Government further stated that the course plan includes subsidies and venue assistance from the county government, reducing the credit fee to NT$2,000 per credit, thereby lowering the entry barrier for further education. The target applicants include anyone with a high school education or above who is interested in entering the civil engineering field, pursuing professional courses, preparing for relevant certifications, or returning to their hometowns for service. Applications are processed online, and classes will commence once 20 participants are enrolled.

The Taitung County Government's Department of Transportation and Public Works announced that a briefing session will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on the afternoon of the 4th in the meeting room of the Taitung County Election Commission. This session will provide interested individuals with a comprehensive understanding of the course content, subsidy eligibility, and application procedures. A Q&A session will also be arranged, with faculty from Pingtung University of Science and Technology directly answering questions. (Edited by Long Bo-an) 1150501
