On April 12, two vocational high school students in Changhua City, while attending exams, placed their schoolbags in the hallway outside the classroom. Afterwards, they found NT$2,700 and earphones missing from their bags. Surveillance footage showed a man wearing a black jacket, black shorts, and glasses entering the campus and committing the theft.
Police also received a report from a junior high school on April 15, stating that parents notified them that their children's money had been stolen while at school. Surveillance footage similarly showed the same man stealing at the school. A total of 24 people were victimized, with losses amounting to NT$19,600.
The Changhua Precinct of the Changhua County Police Bureau stated that the man surnamed Lu entered the schools during non-open hours and extensively ransacked valuables from unsupervised classrooms. All parents of the victimized students collectively filed complaints through the schools. The man was notified to appear and was sent for prosecution on the 26th.
In addition, the Yuanlin Precinct pointed out that on April 16, they received reports of multiple classrooms being stolen from a certain school campus.
