Central News Agency (CNA) correspondent Huang Hsu-Sheng, New Taipei, May 1st - The Kuomintang (KMT) New Taipei City Party Headquarters announced today that in the primary public opinion poll for the 115th New Taipei City Councilor's Fifth Electoral District (Banqiao), among the three registered candidates, Chou Wei-Han and Deng Kai-Hsun emerged victorious, excluding incumbent councilors. Their names will be sent to the nomination review committee for resolution.

The KMT New Taipei City Party Headquarters issued a press release today stating that for the Fifth Electoral District (Banqiao, with 5 seats to be nominated, including 1 guaranteed for women), there are two remaining nomination slots besides the incumbent councilors who have registered.

The three registered candidates were Chou Wei-Han, Chen Chin-Hua, and Deng Kai-Hsun. A three-day public opinion poll primary was conducted from April 28th to 30th.

The party headquarters explained that the poll results were publicly unsealed at the party headquarters at 10 AM today. The statistical results, after combining two polling companies' data and applying weighting for new candidates and young candidates, were: Chou Wei-Han 68.834%, Deng Kai-Hsun 48.171%, and Chen Chin-Hua 9.205%. The party headquarters will submit these poll results to the nomination review committee for resolution.

Chou Wei-Han is the son of incumbent councilor Chou Sheng-Kao. After the poll results were announced, he posted on Facebook, expressing gratitude for the support and trust of the Banqiao residents. He stated that the poll is not the end, but the beginning of responsibility, and every expectation gives him strength to move forward.

Deng Kai-Hsun previously served as a KMT spokesperson. He posted on Facebook, thanking residents for their support and encouragement, and promising not to fail their expectations. He also thanked former KMT chairman Eric Chu for supporting young generations, giving him the opportunity to gain experience in the party central committee and cultivating his participation in the Banqiao councilor election.
