(Central News Agency reporter Huang Hsiao-wen, Taipei, 1st) Tomorrow marks the second day of the Labor Day long weekend. The Central Weather Administration (CWA) announced that from tomorrow until the afternoon of May 3, all areas will experience mostly cloudy to sunny weather, with western Taiwan seeing highs of 31 to 33 degrees Celsius. From the evening of May 3 to May 4, a front will pass and the northeast monsoon will strengthen, bringing chances of rain to all areas, with particular caution advised for localized heavy rain in central and northern Taiwan.

The Labor Day long weekend runs from today until May 3. CWA forecaster Zheng Jieren told the Central News Agency that the weather on tomorrow and May 3's daytime will be similar: mostly cloudy to sunny across the country, with sporadic short-term showers in Hualien-Taitung and the Hengchun Peninsula. Localized short-term thunderstorms are possible in mountainous areas across Taiwan tomorrow afternoon, expanding to the Greater Taipei area and Yilan on May 3.

Zheng Jieren pointed out that from the evening of May 3 to May 4, as the front passes and the northeast monsoon strengthens, central and northern Taiwan and Yilan will experience short-term showers or thunderstorms. Particular attention is needed for localized heavy rain in central and northern Taiwan. Other areas will also turn to localized short-term showers or thunderstorms.

Although the northeast monsoon will slightly weaken on May 5, Zheng Jieren said that due to the continuous eastward movement of the cloud and rain band from Southern China, western Taiwan will have short-term showers, and eastern Taiwan will have localized short-term showers. The rainfall range in western Taiwan will be relatively wider.

After May 6, the weather will gradually stabilize. Zheng Jieren noted that on May 6 and 7, eastern Taiwan and the Hengchun Peninsula will have localized short-term rain, while other areas will be mostly cloudy to sunny, with localized short-term showers in mountainous areas of central and southern Taiwan in the afternoon. He mentioned that on May 8, the environment will shift to a southeasterly wind, bringing localized short-term showers to Hualien-Taitung and the Hengchun Peninsula, while other areas will remain mostly cloudy to sunny, with localized short-term thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Regarding temperatures, Zheng Jieren stated that tomorrow and May 3, western Taiwan will see highs of about 31 to 33 degrees Celsius. Eastern Taiwan will have highs of 26 to 28 degrees tomorrow, and 30 to 31 degrees on May 3. For low temperatures, northern Taiwan, Yilan, and Hualien will be 19 to 21 degrees tomorrow, while central and southern Taiwan and Taitung will be 22 to 23 degrees. On May 3, low temperatures across Taiwan will be around 22 to 24 degrees.

Zheng Jieren pointed out that on May 4, northern Taiwan, Yilan, and Hualien will turn cooler, with highs of 24 to 26 degrees, while Taitung and central and southern Taiwan will still have highs of 29 to 33 degrees. On May 5, highs in central and southern Taiwan will slightly drop to 28 to 30 degrees, while northern Taiwan will see little change.

Zheng Jieren stated that starting May 6, the northeast monsoon will weaken, and temperatures will gradually rise. Western Taiwan will see highs of about 29 to 33 degrees, and eastern Taiwan 26 to 30 degrees. Low temperatures in central and northern Taiwan, Yilan, and Hualien will be 19 to 22 degrees, and other areas 22 to 23 degrees. (Edited by Chen Jen-hua) 1150501
