(Central News Agency reporter Huang Hsu-sheng, New Taipei, 1st) Both Blue and Green New Taipei City mayoral candidates today participated in temple pilgrimages for blessings; Democratic Progressive Party's Su Tsui-hui emphasized that a candidate's age is not an issue, the key is whether their concepts are keeping pace with the times; Kuomintang's Lee Ssu-chuan said that mindset and experience are more important than age, hoping to bring a future to young people.

Today, the 15th day of the third lunar month, is the birthday of Baosheng Dadi and the folk deity God of Wealth Zhao Gongming. Many temples in New Taipei City held birthday ceremonies and pilgrimages for blessings. Local political figures attended to pray for blessings, adding excitement to the election campaign.

Su Tsui-hui, the Democratic Progressive Party's New Taipei City mayoral candidate and legislator, consecutively participated in blessings at several temples including Sanxia Xinglong Temple, Shulin Jian Temple, Zhonghe Honglu Temple Nanshan Fude Temple, and Yonghe Baofu Temple. She thanked public representatives, village chiefs, and temple officials for their efforts in various positions for the locality.

When interviewed, Su Tsui-hui said that Taiwan is a sovereign independent country. Facing external threats, no matter which political party, they should maintain a consistent stance to protect national sovereignty. She also called on the opposition parties to promptly review the arms procurement case to strengthen Taiwan's national defense resilience.

Regarding the public's concern about age, Su Tsui-hui said that a candidate's age is not just a number on a birthday cake; whether one is young or not depends on whether their concepts keep pace with the times and whether they have vitality and passion. She acknowledged Lee Ssu-chuan as a strong opponent and said she would go all out to prove that she has been preparing for the election for 10 years and will present more concrete policy visions with creativity and vitality.

Kuomintang candidate Lee Ssu-chuan also went to Yonghe Baofu Temple today to participate in the Baosheng Dadi pilgrimage and was invited to be a sedan chair bearer, interacting with the public along the way. He even appeared in the same frame as Su Tsui-hui for a photo. He also thanked the temple for its long-term care for vulnerable groups and cooperation with city administration. Deputy Mayor Liu He-ran, who participated in the pilgrimage, stated in his speech that he would fight until the last moment to smoothly hand over the important task to Lee Ssu-chuan's team, who is familiar with city affairs.

Earlier, Lee Ssu-chuan attended a Mother's Day celebration in Xinzhuang District and stated in an interview with the media that he thanked the KMT and white (TPP) legislators for jointly promoting the amendment to allow a unified holiday for all professions nationwide on Labor Day this year, resolving the inconvenience of inconsistent work and rest schedules for families.
