Central News Agency (Reporter Chiu Tsu-yin, Taipei, April 30) – Liang Li-tzu, a writer who immigrated to Taiwan from Hong Kong, has been invited to New York to participate in the 21st "PEN America World Voices Festival." She will share the stage with Ha Jin and several other international writers, engaging in literary dialogue to explore resistance and witnessing under authoritarian oppression.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Culture, Liang Li-tzu's novel "Daily Practice" secured global rights from Riverhead Books, an imprint of the globally renowned publishing group Penguin Random House. Translated by veteran sinologist Jennifer Feeley, it was published in the US in February this year and has received widespread acclaim.

"Daily Practice" is set against the backdrop of the 2019 Hong Kong social movement, weaving together 10 short stories to portray the diverse lives of people in a turbulent era, depicting the intertwined hopes and despairs of an entire generation after the movement's backlash.

According to the Taipei Cultural Center in New York, Liang Li-tzu's ability to complete her writing and publishing in Taiwan and successfully promote her work internationally not only demonstrates the diversity and international competitiveness of Taiwanese literary creation but also profoundly embodies Taiwan's important value as a bastion of free creation in the Chinese-speaking world.

With the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Taipei Cultural Center in New York, Liang Li-tzu will embark on a North American lecture tour in May, with the "PEN America World Voices Festival" as her first stop.

On May 2, Liang Li-tzu will participate in the festival's panel discussion titled "Protest Fiction: Repression, Dissent, and Resistance." She will engage in dialogue with internationally acclaimed Chinese-American writer Ha Jin and Russian-born veteran journalist and writer Svetlana Satchkova, discussing social conflicts and their aftermath from China, Hong Kong, to Russia, and analyzing the price of dissenting voices in the current politicized era.

In addition, Liang Li-tzu's North American tour will include a tea reception and exchange with readers at the independent bookstore Yellow Peril Books in New York on May 4; and literary lectures at Hunter College of the City University of New York on May 8 and the University of Denver on May 14.
