(Central News Agency, Taipei, 30th) The Trump-Xi meeting is expected to take place in Beijing in mid-May. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a phone call today with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. According to Chinese official media reports, Wang Yi expressed that both sides should prepare well for the agenda of important high-level interactions, and claimed that the "Taiwan issue" is the biggest risk point in US-China relations.

CCTV News reported that Wang Yi stated that head-of-state diplomacy has always been the "stabilizer" of US-China relations. Under the strategic guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Trump, "US-China relations have generally maintained stability." This is in line with the fundamental interests of the two peoples and the common expectations of the international community.

He said that both sides should maintain the hard-won stable situation, "prepare well for the agenda of important high-level interactions," expand areas of cooperation, manage points of divergence, and explore the construction of a strategic, constructive, and stable US-China relationship to achieve mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.

According to the report, Wang Yi emphasized that "the Taiwan issue concerns China's core interests and is the biggest risk point in US-China relations. The U.S. side should honor its commitments, make correct choices, open up new space for US-China cooperation, and make due efforts for world peace."

Rubio reportedly stated that US-China relations are the most important bilateral relationship in the world, and head-of-state diplomacy is the core of US-China relations. Both sides should maintain communication and coordination, respect each other, properly handle differences, accumulate results for high-level US-China interactions, and seek strategic stability in US-China relations.
