(Central News Agency reporter Chiang Ming-an, Taipei, 30th) The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index surged 2.35%, and TSMC's ADR closed higher. Taiwan stocks opened higher today, soaring over 500 points in early trading to around 39848 points. TSMC rose 35 NTD to 2215 NTD.

MediaTek jumped over 3% to 2665 NTD, UMC surged about 8%, and Delta Electronics reached 2265 NTD, an increase of nearly 5%, continuing to hit a new high.
