Taipei City Central News Agency (Reporter Chen Yu-ting, Taipei, 30th) With the flood season approaching, the Taipei City Parking Management Office (TPMO) is launching a riverside parking first-time free activity to ensure vehicle owners can promptly grasp flood prevention information. Regardless of whether they are new or existing members, by activating the flood prevention SMS function on the 'Parking Information One-Stop Service' website starting in May, they can save approximately NT$50.
Today, the Taipei City Department of Transportation held a press conference to explain the flood prevention month activities. Xu Jie-xiang, section chief of the electromechanical division of the Parking Management Engineering Office, stated that to encourage vehicle owners who park in riverside parking lots to activate flood prevention SMS to reduce property loss risks, from May 1st to May 31st, joining the 'Taipei City Parking Information One-Stop Service' membership and checking the flood notification service will allow them to enjoy the first free riverside parking offer.
Regarding existing members, Xu Jie-xiang said that since the flood prevention SMS function was launched in 2017, nearly 260,000 people have activated it. To update contact information and ensure willingness to receive messages, thereby improving the timeliness and accuracy of message delivery, the notification settings for existing members will be canceled from May onwards. Old members are requested to re-select, and they can also park for free at the riverside once.
Xu Jie-xiang said that starting May 1st, SMS reminders will be sent to existing members to guide them to re-select and activate. New members can register and bind by scanning the QR code on the parking payment notice, and after completion, their first riverside parking in May will be free, saving approximately NT$50.
He appealed that with the typhoon and heavy rain season approaching, activating flood prevention SMS can not only promptly grasp flood prevention information and move vehicles to safety in advance but also avoid towing fees and response burdens. He encouraged vehicle owners to seize this opportunity to transform from passively suffering disasters to actively avoiding them. (Editor: Li Xi-zhang) 1150430
