(Central News Agency reporter Lai Yu-chen, Taipei, 30th) The government continues to promote the development of the drone industry. The Ministry of Economic Affairs today announced the latest data, showing that the top three export destinations for Taiwan's complete drones are the Czech Republic, Poland, and the United States. The export value of complete drones in the first quarter of this year was US$115 million, exceeding the total export value of US$93 million for 2025.
The Executive Yuan approved the 'Unmanned Vehicle Industry Development Integrated Plan' on October 30 last year, projecting an investment of NT$44.2 billion over six years. This plan aims to expand domestic and international demand to guide industrial development, technology development and international integration, form industrial clusters and ecosystems, and improve related management rules for unmanned vehicles, through strategies focusing on four aspects: market, technology, environment, and regulations. The Ministry of Economic Affairs today reported on the 'Current Status and Promotion Results of the Drone Industry' at the Executive Yuan meeting.
Qiu Qiu-Hui, Director General of the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, stated at a press conference after the Executive Yuan meeting that Taiwan currently has over 267 companies involved in drone-related industries. Manufacturers are active in various cities and counties across northern, central, and southern Taiwan, with development covering key areas such as integrated drone systems, power modules, communication, and flight control. Through the integration of central and local resources, the industry chain connection and overall development benefits can be further strengthened.
He added that the government has established an integrated non-red supply chain capability for complete military-grade commercial drones through the Ministry of National Defense's procurement, driving key technology development. At the same time, Taiwanese companies have successfully entered the US drone supply chain and established cooperation with multiple countries in Europe, America, and Japan, expanding their international market presence. Taiwan has also signed an authorization agreement with the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) for Green UAS certification, becoming the first country outside the United States to obtain this certification. This will help enhance Taiwan's verification capabilities and facilitate companies' entry into the international market.
Regarding export value, Qiu Qiu-Hui stated that the export value of complete drones in the first quarter of this year was US$115 million, exceeding the total export value of US$93 million for 2025, with an estimated annual total exceeding US$250 million by the end of the year. This indicates that Taiwan is gradually entering the global drone market, and the top three export destinations for complete drones are the Czech Republic, Poland, and the United States.
